Located in the historic Wattle Gully, Grey Gardens looks out over the old goldfields and the national heritage park, set in a quiet picturesque part of Chewton, surrounded by national parks and walking tracks.
The property is an eclectic mix of new and old, designed to fit into the landscape with its rustic form and charm, and furnished with retro furniture, industrial antiques, and plush textiles to create a warm, inviting and comfortable environment.
LIVING SPACE
A large open plan living space with 16 foot vaulted ceilings gives you a wonderful sense of space, and with eight sets of french doors opening out onto the decked areas of the house, inside and outside become one at your command.
Kick back on the huge linen sofa in front of the wood fire, listen to vinyl records on our vintage player, or sit and enjoy the view out into the garden and over the goldfields.
A selection of movies, records, books and board games, together with TV, chrome cast, bluetooth connectivity and DVD player facilitate entertainment for any kind of guest.
DINING AREA
A fully equipped open plan kitchen with a large workbench-come-dining table allows you to cook, eat, and enjoy each others company while preparing meals. The pantry is also packed with all the staples you could need for a country cook up.
The vegetable garden out the back of the house is filled with fresh produce, both herbs and vegetables. Feel free to help yourself to anything from the garden that is ready to be harvested and eaten!
BEDROOMS
Two large equal sized bedrooms both with generous en-suite bathrooms and queen size beds so you won't have to flip a coin on which bedroom to choose from.
Linen & towels are provided for your stay, and with views from the bedroom out into the garden, you can lie in bed under the covers staying warm and cosy on crisp mornings.
Each bedroom has a private en-suite bathroom with a good sized shower. Bedroom one also has an original 1950's mint green cast iron bathtub with views out over Wattle Gully.
Take the time to run a bath and enjoy it with a glass of wine.
GARDEN
The property has two large decked areas on either side of the house, relax in the sun on the north side of the house in winter or escape the heat on the south deck in summer which also has a wood fired pizza oven.
Furnished with a selection of 1950's garden furniture, a barbeque, and outdoor setting, all spaces are perfect for alfresco dining.
Most evenings you can see the family of Kangaroos bound through the property around 7:30pm, there are generally 6-10 of them that relax in the garden often less than 20 meters from the deck.
There is an abundance of other wildlife and bird which reside out in the garden on a regular basis.
At the rear of the property is a burgeoning vegetable garden and succulent greenhouse, Spend an evening by filling up the outdoor bath, which has running hot water, and watch the sun set with the wildlife.
